Moderator (Mod) Job Description

Part 1) read and participate in one or more of the fora and folders. Mod participation in specific fora or folders will be coordinated by the Lead Admin in keeping with Mods’ interests and to ensure coverage of all fora. They observe posts and threads, watching for trouble spots and potential trouble spots, including issues involving conflict, word choice, product promotion, and other inappropriate behavior on the part of posters, as stipulated in the User Agreement (UA) and within guidelines of policies and procedures

Part 2) may move, lock, and hide posts, or may request either publicly or privately that members modify their behavior. They may edit posts in their assigned fora for language, inappropriate and/or excessive personal information, or to add spoiler space and/or trigger warnings. Mods shall follow policy with regards to these procedures. Mods shall post actions taken in the Admin Team forum.

Part 3) request the assistance of an Admin in matters involving post deletions, member warnings, timeouts, and bannings, or such items in parts 1 and 2 about which they are unsure in a specific situation. Mods shall follow policy with regard to procedures for dealing with membership and posting issues.

Part 4) are not expected to read every post made on the board or in specific fora, but monitor to the best of their ability and intervene when problems come to their attention.

Part 5) are part of the Admin Team. As such, they are eligible to serve as the representative of the Admin Team to the Sheroes, Inc. Board of Directors. They may be assigned to assist with Trainees, either as part of the group or individually. They may be explicitly requested to participate in policy formulation, but are encouraged at all times to offer recommendations to the Lead Admin or others. They are responsible for making reasonable posts even when they are not acting in their capacities as Mods.

Part 6) report to the Lead Admin, who has the sole power to appoint, promote, and suspend a Mod. Promotion to Admin will normally take place no less than 6 months after becoming a Mod, with reviews of progress at least every 3 months. Termination of a Mod can be recommended by the Lead Admin, but must be approved by the Board of Directors.

Administrator (Admin) Job Description

Part 1) read and participate in one or more of the fora and folders, and may be assigned to watch one or more specific fora. They observe posts and threads, watching for trouble spots and potential trouble spots, including issues involving conflict, word choice, subject matter, product promotion, and other inappropriate behavior on the part of posters, as stipulated in the User Agreement (UA) and within guidelines of policies and procedures

Part 2) may move, lock, and hide posts, or may request either publicly or privately that members modify their behavior. They may edit posts for language, inappropriate and/or excessive personal information, or to add spoiler space and/or trigger warnings. Admins shall follow policy with regard to these procedures. Admins shall post such actions taken in the Admin Team forum.

Part 3) may delete posts and give members warnings. They shall discuss time outs and bannings with other team members, and have the ability and responsibility to enact such timeouts and bannings. They may give a 24 hour suspension to a member, with notice, in an emergency case, pending discussion of either time out or banning. They shall post the pertinent data about these actions in the Admin Team forum. An Admin who has given a time out or 24 hour suspension is responsible for ensuring that the time out/suspension is ended in a timely fashion, either directly or with the assistance of another Admin. Admins shall follow policy with regard to procedures for dealing with membership and posting issues.

Part 6a) may be requested to do other tasks, including but not restricted to a)reconciling forum records to remove any remainder of posts made in the parent forums; b) responding to member inquiries, alerts, and requests for assistance; c) resetting passwords, hiding or deleting information or posts about a member at that member’s request.

Part 6b) may also be asked to carry out such site maintenance tasks as the Lead Administrator may request from time to time, but only as so requested. Such tasks include, but are not restricted to a) creating, modifying, removing, reordering, or reconciling fora; b) removing deactivated or inactive user accounts; c) adjusting forum security, email, registration, set up, user options, and style settings; d) blocking or unblocking IP addresses; posting, editing, deleting, pinning and unpinning announcements; e) compiling and presenting usage statistics; and f) editing the underlying software and files in ways consistent with the goals and intentions of the Lead Admin and Sheroes, Inc.

Part 7) report to the Lead Admin, who has the sole power to appoint, promote, and suspend an Admin. Lead Administrator Job Description

Objectives:

Coordinate the Admin Teams for the Sheroes, Inc. message boards, to optimize the experiences of the members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Lead Administrator has day-to-day responsibilities for the organization, including carrying out the organization’s goals and policies. The Lead Administrator will attend all board meetings, report on the progress of the organization, and answer questions from the board. The Lead Administrator shall conduct elections for Membership Representatives at such times as the board directs.

The Lead Administrator may, after consultation with other staff members, appoint, assign, promote, and suspend Admins, Mods, and Trainees. The Lead Administrator may seek such technical support and advisors from time to time as may be necessary, providing such helpers with some or all of the powers of an Admin or Mod for a specific task. The Lead Administrator is responsible for the training, development, and supervision of all staff members.

In addition to performing the tasks of an Admin, the Lead Administrator may assign or request an Admin to carry out or assist in such site maintenance tasks as to a) creating, modifying, removing, reordering, or reconciling fora; b) removing deactivated or inactive user accounts; c) adjusting forum security, email, registration, set up, user option, and style settings; d) blocking or unblocking IP addresses; posting, editing, deleting, pinning and unpinning announcements; e) compiling and presenting usage statistics; and f) editing the underlying software and files in ways consistent with the goals and intentions of Sheroes, Inc.

The Lead Administrator shall, with the assistance of the Admin Team and others as appropriate, create and maintain a set of policies and procedures relative to the administration and moderation of the Sheroes, Inc. message boards. The Lead Administrator will seek consensus among the Admin Team on issues concerning policy, procedure, and discipline.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Reliable internet access. Familiarity with message boards and specifically with the Sheroes, Inc. group of message boards. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Comfort with email and instant messaging. Ability and willingness to understand and learn to apply new technological skills and information. Interest in the health and well-being of adolescent girls, across many cultures. Ability to ask for help when needed.

Lines of Communication:

The Lead Admin reports to the Sheroes, Inc. Board of Directors. The Admins and Mods of all Sheroes, Inc. sites report to the Lead Admin, though the Lead Admin or the Board of Directors may create intermediate reporting paths.
